I read this quote from Lao-Tzu long time ago when I was growing up, and it struck me in a way I couldn’t explain. Although I always look cheerful and strong, I’ve always been quite sensitive on the inside. For example; hurtful things that someone said 10 years ago still stick with me. This is something I am actually still working on. After all, there are so many things in the world that are outside our control, but we are the ones who have the power to manage our reaction.
So I decided to be like water, I want to keep flowing softly surpassing all kind of hard surfaces. If somebody puts me down, I will not lower myself serving them with endless arguments and prove them right. Instead, just give them a smile, wish them all the best, and keep on going your own way. Even if you’re on this journey alone, keep on going and never stop to reach your dream destination. In the end, you’ll be surprised by how far you are. Far far away from those rocks that are too heavy and stubborn to move themselves anywhere. Because unlike them, you are water. Soft and infinite.
